The team moved to a third location today. La Entrada is about 15 minutes from our hotel (with the same name!). There was a line around the corner with people waiting for the clinic to open, but after the initial rush things slowed down to a steady trickle of people. The clinic closed a little early but we saw quite a few patients.
Number of Visitors – 392
Visitors who wished a follow up visit with the local Pastor – 39
While fitting a client with reading glasses I looked up and realized a video crew was on site and filming all of us at work. It looks like we might make the local news in La Entrada. Hopefully, the publicity will bring even more visitors tomorrow. Below are some of the highlights from today.

Our translators are students from local schools. They are hand picked by their teachers and it is considered a privilege to be chosen for this assignment. They do not have to attend school on the days they help at the clinic. The youngest translator was 12 and the oldest is 17. They are well educated and many of them have aspirations to go to University when they finish school.

Howard, Brenda and Karen fit clients with distance vision glasses. Immediately behind them Tom, Jim, Vince and Laura work the Triage table. At this station they ask clients whether they are experiencing eye pain or other vision problems. Finally, they ask each visitor if they are interested in learning more about the free gift of Heaven. If they answer yes, a more personal and in-depth conversation will occur. In some cases this will lead to someone confessing faith in Jesus, or a desire to follow up with a local Pastor to learn more. In the very back, Dustin conducts eye chart exams to determine whether visitors need reading glasses or whether they need an auto-refractor test which will provide more detailed information.
Hey, Where is Day 5?
After 4 very long days we all looked forward to Day 5 — our day off! The entire team went to visit the Mayan Ruins. Our faithful bus driver navigated everything from harrowing twists and turns to cows crossing the road. Here is a glimpse, but we’ll share more when we return home.
