Our week of vision clinics has finished. We saw some beautiful country, met some wonderful people, and worked very hard to demonstrate God’s love and care through the provision of medical exams and eyeglasses.
2,342 –> Total patients who visited our clinics
2,234 –> Number of eyeglasses given away (808 for distance / 1,426 for reading)
496 –> Patients who did not receive glasses
273 –> Patient follow-ups, requesting a visit with a local Pastor
4,684 –> The number of times a team member was able to talk about God’s love with a patient or share the Gospel message.
Statistics don’t do a great job of communicating the passion, the effort and the ministry that occurred this past week. But they do reveal what God can do through a group of 15 people from Texas who aren’t even vision care professionals. We just love the Lord and want to serve wherever He sends us. He provided everything else: the funding, the location, the plan and the stamina we needed to work those long days. Here we are, with some of our new friends.

We had wonderful help from experts in Honduras, who in turn motivated others to open their hearts and their churches. Each team member had family and friends praying for their success and safety. God’s presence was powerful and beneficent.
Now we are back home, going through our inventory of glasses and making plans for next year, calling and writing thank yous to the many people who supported us financially and through prayer. We’ll talk about what went well and what we can do better next time. This experience has changed me. As often tends to happen, I received much more than I gave, and I’m glad I said “yes” when God called. My prayer is that you will also say “yes” to God when the opportunity arises.

Que Dios te bendiga.
