Eyeglass and Vision Clinics in Honduras

We are reaching out again to share the love of Jesus along with vision support to the people of Honduras. A team from Faith Sugar Land joins Living Word Lutheran Church this year. Together, our group of 15 volunteers will host eyeglass clinics in the cities of La Ceiba, La Masica, and Tela.
Last year’s experience was transformative. We were privileged to see the Holy Spirit at work in the hearts of adults, children, Hondurans and Americans alike as one 2,000 people heard about the love of Christ and saw it in action as they received vision testing and new eye glasses. As we shared our experiences with our home church it became obvious that we needed to go back again. There are more people to be helped to see more clearly, and to see Jesus more clearly.
How Does it Work?
Preparation: Eye glasses — over 4,000 pairs — have been donated by church members and friends. They have been sorted, labeled, and packed into large containers which will accompany the mission team on their flight to San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Volunteers have attended training sessions aligned with their roles: everything from setting up vision testing stations, operating specialized equipment, and sharing the Gospel message with clinic visitors.
Prayer: many people have been praying for this mission for the past several months. They will continue throughout the trip and beyond. They are asking for God’s guidance, protection, and glory as we seek to do His will in Honduras. Will you pray with us and for us? There is much work to do and many unknowns along the way, and knowing that we are being prayed for gives much needed confidence and comfort. Prayer makes a huge difference! Specific prayer needs will be listed in the daily blog entries while the team is in Honduras.
Action: Day one will start very early, as our travelers will meet at the airport at 6:00am. Travel days include an airplane flight, making their way through Customs, loading and unloading footlockers, a bus ride to a new town, learning to communicate in a Spanish-speaking country, making new friends, and getting ready for a 6:00am start each morning. Daily debriefs, devotions and worship round out the day.
