Meet Our In-Country Medical Team

/

International Mission Trips don’t just happen. It takes a lot of planning, along with assistance from in-country professionals. These people guide us through government channels, connect us to local churches, act as translators, and negotiate on our behalf. They help with things like  transportation, accommodation, and work behind the scenes to make our mission trip successful. These ladies love the Lord and serve Him with excellence. We asked them to tell us a little bit about themselves and what drew them to join the mission field. The English translation doesn’t do them justice, but you will see their heart revealed in their responses.

Sonia

I live in Esperanza, a city with the most perfect climate in the western part of Honduras. I have attended the evangelical church for several years and just this year I have begun serving in the area of discipleship as a Sunday school teacher. I worked with the “Heart for Honduras” medical brigade until this past February, a total of 20 years.  I have also been working with an orphanage for 7 years,  and now with you for 3 years.

I am a doctor and I used to work with a Development Institute, but 20 years ago I faced a choice between my career and the mission field. It was not an easy decision. I struggled with God and in my heart, but over time it became clear that material wealth was not the answer. I understood that my life and all my blessings came from Him. In missions work I must be sensitive to what God wants me to do. I often see faces without hope, with physical needs, and people going along with the crowd. I see they do not recognize that God is there, waiting to help them, to give them a blessing. So I help bring His blessings to others, because we are meant to be instruments in God’s hands.

Rosita

I am a person who is passionate about serving my neighbor. Every day of my life I long to be like Jesus Christ. I am grateful to God for the ability to use my hands to help others. Serving with your missions team is wonderful because you make us feel like family. It is wonderful to see the love with which you come to serve my nation. That moves me and with all my heart I thank God and you for being a blessing to a multitude of people here in Honduras.
