Everything’s Going to (God’s) Plan

Day 4: La Màsica
Number of Visitors today: 363
Total Seen Since First Day: 1,317

It has been an adventurous day. It actually started last night when Kevin was informed that the venue for today’s clinic had changed as the hosts felt more space was needed and this property was larger. This morning the team loaded up the bus and made their way to La Màsica, about an hour’s drive. This is a smallish town with a population of about 6,000, and in a rural but lush setting. As the bus turned onto the property, it was greeted by a line of 200 people waiting to come to clinic. Some of them had been there since 5:00am. What an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus as we visit with people who are so desperate to see better that they will walk long distances and wait for hours to receive vision treatment.

After reviewing the new location for the first time, the setup process began. Since the team are well seasoned now, they completed the setup in short order and the first patient was seen at 9:00am. This is an outdoor location and it’s hot. No fans, just open air. This is actually better than inside the building that is even hotter — with no AC or fans. It certainly felt like the first day of summer! It was a new way of working, and our visitors patiently waited to be seen. The smiles in today’s pictures tell the story best. The things we take for granted — simple reading glasses and an eye exam — are not available here. Our team is an answer to prayer for them.
